the BIG art weekend in Chicago
April 24-28
PARTS & LABOR COLLECTIVE: Urbanite - Tags & Ink
MR. GRAY at Betty's Blue Star Lounge
ARTROPOLIS (free passes!)
May 2-4

In addition to the Artropolis high end art fairs, don't miss out on crafty goods at DEPART-ment, a group show by Parts and Labor Collective, live performance by Mr. Gray, and much more, all happening next weekend. The following weekend, stay tuned for Around the Coyote festival at Looptopia. Hope to see you out there!

DEPART-ment: AV-aerie, 2000 W Fulton, 3rd floor

I'll have one-of-a-kind bookmarks and maybe a few surprises for sale at DEPART-ment. It's impossible to leave here empty handed. There promises to be a vast assortment of handmade goods: art, wearables and much more. Bring cash!

PARTS & LABOR COLLECTIVE: Urbanite - Tags & Ink: 3144 W Carroll, 3rd floor

Parts and Labor is back again. The Collective's second themed show of 2008 is entitled Urbanite: Tags & Ink. We'll feature artwork that involves the theme of street art, urban landscapes, grafitti and tattoos. I'm not sure yet if I'm participating, but will try to be there in any event.

MR. GRAY at Betty's Blue Star Lounge: 1600 W Grand

Mr. Gray is "a Trojan horse with a punk rock heart and a pop physique", a 4 piece from Chicago, featuring my fiance, Andrew, on guitar, keys and vocals. Come get a beer with me after the Artropolis openings and hear some live music!

ARTROPOLIS: Merchandise Mart, 7th, 8th and 12th floors

Click the following links for free passes to the Preview of The Artist Project and NEXT, and general admission to all Artropolis fairs.

I'm not participating at the Mart this year, but have several friends who are, including Liza Berkoff, Eric Mecum, Heather Hancock, Sandra Fettingis, Ted Stanuga, Nicole Beck, Gabe Lanza, Eulalio de Silva, Scott Fishman, Gabriel Mejia, Guillermo Munro and Jeff Zimmerman at The Artist Project, and Allegoric and Liza Berkoff with Carrie Secrist Gallery at NEXT.

ATC + LOOPTOPIA: Riverfront Gallery, NE corner of Wacker and Wabash

Stay tuned for more information about the new SPRING Around the Coyote Festival, the weekend after next, in conjunction with Looptopia, Chicago's 2nd annual 24-hour downtown cultural celebration. There will be much to see and do in addition to visiting us 80 artists (and gawking at the in-progress Trump Tower across the street) - visit the website for a complete schedule of events.
